The purpose of work is creation of the Ukrainian synonymic computer dictionary of geological terms as tool of selection and formation of the newest Ukrainian terminology in which the modern level of development of knowledge in system of geological sciences will be displayed. It{he} will contain from 2 up to 10 synonyms to each resulted term and his{its} short ethymology, will be the mixed type and will absorb at itself all valuable of lexical riches of the Ukrainian language, the different generations collected and processed by known scientists (V.Voljan, I.Verhratsky, B.Grinchenko, P.Tutkovsky, E.Lazarenko, S.Karavansky etc.). In it{him} the main terms on the following geological disciplines will be resulted: mineralogy and crystallography, petrography and lithology, communicating and regional geology, paleontology and stratigraphy, geochemistry, termobarogeochemistry, prospecting geophysics, mining, geomorphology, hydrogeology, geotectonics, ore and nonmetallic minerals. The urgency of a theme is caused by necessity: 1) Consistently to introduce at a life the Law of Ukraine on languages; 2) To assist ordering and normalization of the Ukrainian scientific and technical terminology; 3) To fix the true use of professional terms in the scientific, industrial and educational literature which issue in the Ukrainian language; 4) To open prospect for the further specification and delimitation of concepts, as the Ukrainian language as any another, very much straight recreates their essence and the most exact shades. The big advantage of a computer variant of the dictionary before usual will be, that it{he} enables: à) Without essential expenses constantly to fill up lexical base and to bring corresponding proof-readings in case of changes in spelling; b) Without the big capital investments operatively to inform the dictionary to the consumer (the higher school, scientific and industrial establishments, etc.); c) To track evolution of professional language eventually. Besides it{he} is maximum convenient for using, rather cheap at duplicating and easy at transportation.
