The information about the famous mineralogist and petrologist of the 20th century academician V. Sobolev is adduced, as well as his contribution to investigations of Carpathian and other regions, different aspects of diamond themes and isomorphism in minerals. Structural, genetic and other peculiarities of minerals from granitoids, skarns, kimberlites and meteorites are considered. Some aspects of geochemistry and technogenetic mineralogy are elucidated.
